Nylda Dieppa

Nylda Dieppa is the author of Alborada: A Poetic Memoir Across Cultures, an autobiographical collection of narrative and lyrical poems crafted throughout her life. It won a Royal Palm Award from the Florida Writers Association in 2015. The second, enhanced edition was published as Alborada (Dawn): A Cross-Cultural Memoir in Poetry. It received an Honorable Mention for the 2024 Juan Felipe Herrera Best Poetry Book Award in the One Author – English category from the International Latino Book Awards. 

Nylda’s work has been published in Cadence, "Of Poets & Poetry,"  “Somos en Escrito,” “La Respuesta,” and “America” magazines. “Paris Atlantic” accepted two of her poems for publication in 2025.She has read her work at various venues including the American University of Paris, the Polasek Museum in Winter Park, and Timucua Arts in Orlando, Florida. She has also performed at Medgar Evers College, Cornelia Street Café, and The Ear Club in New York City as well as Casa Aboy and Poet’s Passage in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A member of the Florida State Poets Association, Florida Writers Association (FWA), Comadres para las Américas, and International Society of Latino Authors, Nylda serves as Vice-president of the Orlando Area Poets group as well as on the board of the Florida Writers Foundation (FWF) as its Vice-president. She led the Maitland Writers Group, affiliated with FWA, for ten years and published its monthly newsletter. She is a judge for FWA’s Silver Palms Award literary contest, International Latino Book Awards, and others. Nylda publishes her newsletter “Word Sketches” and FWF’s “Sunshine State Literacy Spotlight” and speaks about various topics to interested groups. She coaches general population writers, and members of marginalized communities at Word Sketches Book Coaching, available through her website www.NyldaDieppa.com.
