Allison Taylor is a Florida-based, realist painter inspired by the state’s wildlife, history, landscapes, and botanicals. Originally from Alabama, she earned a B.A. in art history from the University of Florida, where she also studied studio art. She later attended the Art Institute of Colorado for multimedia design.

She refines her oil painting skills through plein-air workshops and studio classes with local artists. Her work has received first-prize awards from Crealdé School of Art and Creative Hub of Apopka and has been exhibited in juried shows at CityArts in Orlando.

Painting from life and her extensive travel photography, she blends detail with expressive brushwork to try to capture the wonder and sublime beauty of nature and life.

Artist Statement

Florida’s wildlife, gardens, beaches, and nature trails are a source of serenity and inspiration for my art. I try to capture the beauty around us in a poetic way that elevates the subject. I paint in oil, often building the painting up in layers and changing elements of the composition, such as adding sky holes or symbols. I’m fascinated by the rhythms and patterns in nature and life, from the smallest creatures to celestial events. I want to recreate a sense of wonder for the viewer, to share a bit of awe that reminds us to enjoy the moments.
